Baby Dreaming Project

Arnhem Land, Northern Territory, Australia

Our friend Denise Goodfellow, of Darwin, Australia, is helping her aboriginal relatives develop a low-impact ecotourism project at a site named "Baby Dreaming" near Gudjekbinj in western Arnhem Land.  The traditional owners of that land have decided to open the area to sympathetic visitors who wish to learn about the flora, fauna, landforms, and the aboriginal way of life.  As part of that project, Jim hopes to take a group of students there in 2004 or 2005.  Their tour would combine study with community service, as they would lend a hand building trails, campsites, and so on.

Jim and Meredith visited Gudjekbinj during May, 2003.  Here are some of their pictures, unoptimized; click on a thumbnail to see a larger, low-resolution jpg.  (Printed color-corrected copies are available for purchase; all proceeds go to support the Baby Dreaming project.)
